Did You Wear a Postpartum Belly Belt or Massage Your Tummy To Help Flatten It Quicker? Does It Work?
I know about the belly wraps or belts, but I recently read a post that said be sure to massage your belly daily to help reduce inflammation and return it to it’s normal size quicker. What kind of massaging is this referring to and anyone had luck with either or both of these methods? THANKSThe belly massaging the PP nurse will do is nothing like what the average new mom would do to herself, LOL. The reason the nurse does it is to ensure that there are no pieces of placenta attached or still inside, and to encourage lochia to flow, and to encourage the uterus to shrink. But it is a DEEP massage, and the nurse is trained to know how to do it so she doesn’t massage your bladder or something, LOL.
There is no ‘inflammation’ in a regular birth. The uterus, muscles, and skin are all stretched. It took a long time to get them stretched….If you could just massage them ‘back to normal’ then no one would have soft, fatty bellies
You could have edema if you get an IV, or weren’t careful about retaining water before birth. Massage can help with that, but edema doesn’t usually happen in the belly.
